WORSHIP

Share one challenging/hard/painful experience from your life this week. What have you learned from that experience? Also, share 2 reasons to thank God for this week.

Point: Let our praise must overpower our challenging situations.

WORD: FAITH THAT NEVER WEAKENS!

Read Romans 4:16-19. Paul stated that Abraham’s faith never weakened, nor did he allow unbelief to enter into his mind (Romans 4:19). One of Satan’s strategies is to sow seeds of doubt in the human mind, because he knows that if the person accepts the seed, it will grow and eventually bear fruit. The fruit of the seed of doubt is fear, and it leads to failure.

Abraham: God’s Friend

Abraham depended on God so much because of his closeness with him. Since God was so close, there are things that He made Abraham do with a particular requirement (Genesis 12:1). He never gives us anything without a requirement. What did He required from Abraham?

  • His Flag - he renounced his citizenship and country.
  • His Land - his property. Many people cling to the things they worked for their whole life and do not want to let them go.
  • His Family - the people he loved the most.

Abraham Leaned on God

Read Genesis 15:6. Abraham placed his complete trust and he did not dare to take a step without having God’s direction. God was pleased with the fact that this man left aside his self confidence, his strength to conquer, and his business skills to depend completely on him.

God led him through different circumstances in order for him to know Him in different ways, according to the situations he had to experience. His faith never weakened because of the four important identities of God which he focused much on...

  1. MOST HIGH GOD [El Elyon] (Genesis 14:22) - all riches, blessings and provision come from El Elyon. God is above and must be above our lives. Because of this, we will see everything from above, difficult things seem easy, and big things seem small.
  2. ALMIGHTY GOD [El Shaddai] (Genesis 17:1) - “El” means “Almighty” and the word “Shaddai” means “mother’s breast.” This means that God will fill all of our emotional void and heal all of our wounded/scarred soul. He will heal all of our emotional scars so that we will be more prepared to face our daily challenges.
  3. ETERNAL GOD [El Olam] (Genesis 21:33) - If we serve the Eternal God we are not bound with earthly things (materialism). We live in this world aware that we are pilgrims (since our true citizenship is in heaven), and we do everything with an eternal perspective and projection. In simple terms, we live as heaven on earth.
  4. GOD PROVIDER [Jehovah Jireh] (Genesis 22:8) - God tested Abraham to make one of the most difficult decisions of his life: to offer his only son as a sacrifice. In this we see that God tests the heart and mind of man , and best way is through the offering. The good news is Abraham passed the test with flying colors and after the offering that he made God provided an animal in replacement of his Son.

Bottom-Line...

God invites us to know Him in the same way Abraham knew Him--as a Father who can do all things and for whom nothing is impossible, as the God who nourishes and heals people’s emotions, as the God who makes our journey here on earth successful, and as the God who provides for everyone. If this happens our faith will never weaken!!!
